Lake Catholic Football Two-A-Day Practice

The sound of football was in the air all across the Buckeye State on Monday as high school football two-a-days began around the state.  Right now, players are only allowed to wear helmets and shorts, but after the first five days, the pad popping begins.

Most media outlets were out-and-about to check-out the early morning action, and I've put together a sampling of reports from around the state.

In the Cleveland-area, the Plain Dealer provides the video above from Lake Catholic's first practice.  Reporters Tim Warsinskey and Bob Fortuna also look at Strongsville and Glenville.

Columbus Dispatch reporter Mark Znidar spent the first-day of workouts checking-out Grove City, which saw 110 players hit the turf on Monday.

In the Cincinnati-area, the Enquirer took at look at always tough Colerain, which will open the season in a couple of national rankings.  The Enquirer first day story also touches on Moeller and McNicholas.

The Dayton Daily News reporting came from Fairmont High's first practice under new head coach Andy Aracri.

Some of the other newspapers like the Toledo Blade and  Akron Beacon Journal ran small stories with pictures.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has reached a compromise on the location of the state football championships from 2012 through 2015.

The OHSAA has voted to play the championship games in 2012 and 2013 in their current venues of Canton and Massillon...in 2014 and 2015 the title games will be played in Ohio Stadium on the campus of Ohio State.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the compromise decision came after months of debate.

Ohio High School Athletic Association

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that the Ohio High School Athletic Association has again postponed its decision on the site for the 2012 through 2015 state championship football games.

The OHSAA is trying to decide between a proposal from Ohio Stadium at Ohio State and Canton/Massillon, which have hosted the games since 1998.  The Greater Columbus Sports Commission wants to have all six championship games in Columbus.

According to today's report, the OHSAA commissioner wants a decision made before August 1st.
