Ohio High School Football Huddle
Today, the Ohio High School Athletic Association announced the 192 team field for the 2011 state playoffs in six divisions.
Four of last year's champs are back to defend their titles; only Waterson (Division III) and Youngstown Ursuline (Division V) didn't make it back in 2011.
Columbus St. Francis DeSales is in the field in Division III, which extends its streak to 18 straight appearances in the Ohio postseason, which is four years shy of the all-time record of 22 straight postseason appearances. St. Ignatius holds the record from 1988 through 2009.
Newark Catholic didn't make the field, which means it won't be able to improve upon its 62 playoff wins, which is the most in Ohio high school football history. St. Ignatius is next with 55 postseason victories, followed by Youngstown Cardinal Mooney (51), Columbus St. Francis DeSales (47), Steubenville (45) and Versailes (45).
