Cleveland Plain Dealer Releases Pre-Season Top 25

The Cleveland Plain Dealer continues to pump-out tons of high school football info as we approach the start of the 2009 season and today you can check-out the paper's great preview for the northeast part of the state. The preview looks at every team in every league.

Something's Gotta Give as #16 St. Ignatius Battles #18 Elder for Ohio Division 1 Title

Between the two schools there are eleven Ohio state football championships. Tonight St. Ignatius (#16 USA Today) squares-off with Elder (#18 USA Today) to decide who's the best Division 1 team in the state. St. Ignatius (13-1) has won nine state titles while Elder (13-1) has won two. Elder won back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003. St. I's last title was in '0l.

Ohio High School Football Scoreboard - Semifinals

The road wasn't easy, but Cincinnati Anderson is back to defend it's Ohio Division 2 high school football championship. Friday night, the Redskins knocked-off the Associated Press' #1 team Columbus DeSales 14-10 avenging a 38-17 regular season home loss to DeSales. Anderson (12-2) will now face Sylvania Southview (14-0) next Saturday in the state championship game at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon.

Ohio High School Football Scoreboard - Regional Semifinals

Mayfield's (10-2) magical season came to an end Friday night with a 16-13 overtime loss to Akron's Archbishop Hoban (8-4) in the Division 2 Region 5 semifinals. The top-seeded Wildcats , who shutout six straight opponents this year, entered the game ranked #5 by the Cleveland Plain Dealer and #10 in the Associated Press Ohio high school football rankings. Next Friday fourth-seeded Hoban will play sixth-seed Tallmadge (9-3) for the regional championship and a berth in the state semifinals. Click here to read a Hoban-Mayfield recap.
