Ohio Wins Fourth Straight in Big 33 Football Classic

The Pennsylvania stars blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead Saturday night and then lost 24-21 to Ohio in overtime in the annual Big 33 Football Classic in Hershey.

Ohio pushed its win streak to four straight over the Keystone Staters with four interceptions in the fourth quarter and overtime.

The Buckeye State claimed the victory when Nana Kyeremeth (Thomas Worthington HS) intercepted a Skyler Mornhiweg (St. Joseph's Prep) pass in the first overtime.

Ohio Rolls Past Pennsylvania in Big 33 Classic

Ohio ran its win streak in the Big 33 Classic to three straight in Hershey Saturday night.

The Buckeye State stars routed the Keystone Staters 50-14 behind MVP Akise Teague of Youngstown Ursuline High School.  Teague, who will play his college ball at the University of Cincinnati, had 168 yards in total offense, averaging 16.8 yards per touch. 

Teague scored two first quarter rushing touchdowns and then caught a 40-yard touchdown pass in the third.


The 50 points was the most scored by an opponent against the PA stars in the 54th Big 33 Classic.

New Philadelphia's Dennison to Lead Ohio Stars in Big 33 Game

Big 33 officials have named New Philadelphia head coach Matt Dennison as Ohio's head coach for the 54th annual classic that pits the Buckeye State against high school football all-stars from Pennsylvania that will be played in Hershey on June 18, 2011.

The PA stars will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak to the Buckeye State.  Since the Pennsylvania/Ohio format was reinstate in 1993, each state has won nine times.

Last Minute TD Gives Ohio Victory over Pennsylvania in Big 33 Classic

For the second straight year, Ohio owns bragging rights over Pennsylvania after a 18-15 come-from-behind victory in the Big 33 Classic in Hershey.

The Patriot-News reports that the Ohio stars captured the victory behind quarterback Mark Myers of St. Ignatius, who need only two plays to drive his team 70 yards for the winning score.

Quarterback Verlon Reed of Marion Franklin was named MVP of the Ohio squad, while Rich Gray of Woodland Hills was PA's Most Valuable Player.

The Ohio win knots the series at nine wins apiece.

Ohio North-South Classic Tees It Up Friday Night in Columbus

72 of the top high school football players in Ohio will suit-up tomorrow night for America's longest running all-star high school football game.

The Ohio North-South Classic will kick-off in the Horseshoe at Ohio State at 7 P.M.  The game was moved from its usual June date so it no longer conflicted with the Big 33 Classic, which pits Ohio vs. Pennsylvania.

The Columbus Dispatch has a quick look at some of the key players in the game.

Ohio North-South Classic Announces Rosters

The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association has decided it doesn't want to compete with the Big 33 game for talent, so organizers have moved the date from June to April 23rd this year. The last couple of years, the two games were played on the same day.

This year the game will be played in Ohio Stadium, the day before the annual Ohio State Scarlet & Gray spring game.

Here are the rosters for the 65th North-South Classic, which will be played for the 65th time this year and is the oldest all-star high school football game in America.

Big 33 Classic Featured on ESPN's E:60

The 52nd Big 33 game in June added to the excitement that surrounds what many, including myself, consider THE BEST high school football all-star game in America. Ohio beat Pennsylvania 38-31, snapping a two-game PA win streak.

ESPN's E:60 recently did a great feature on the game that has featured names such as Montana, Namath and Marino...and, as I always point out has had at least one alum play in every Super Bowl.

When it comes to high school football all-star game tradition, it's hard to ignore the PNC Big 33 Football Classic played in Hershey, Pennsylvania pitting Pennsylvania stars against the best from Ohio.

How good is the talent at the Big 33 game? The Classic has provided at least one former player in every Super Bowl ever played including this year's.

Last week, Big 33 officials announced that Tim Janocko of Clearfield will be the head coach of PA squad, and Mike Fell of Ada will lead the Ohio All-Stars.

Ohio Roster Announced for Big 33 Classic



Big 33 Classic officials have announced the roster for the June 14th all-star high school football game between Ohio and Pennsylvania in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The Big 33 Classic is considered one of the best all-star high school football games in America, because every Super Bowl played has included a player that has played in the mid-summer classic in Chocolatetown USA.
